LONGMORN

SPEYSIDE

Thick, malty and fruity. Can show wonderful complexity at advanced age.

Longmorn was founded by a partnership of local businessmen in 1894. The distillery is situated between the Rothes Glen and Elgin, right next door to Benraich distillery. The name Longmorn derives from the Gaelic 'Lanmarnoch' which translates as the church of St Marnoch, and one of the warehouses is built on the site of an ancient chapel. The distillery came under the ownership of James R Grant, in 1899. In 1970 the Longmorn Grants merged with the Grants of Glenlivet and Glen Grant (along with Hill, Thompson & Co.) to form The Glenlivet Distillers. They expanded Longmorn twice, once in 1972 and again in 1974 bringing the total number of stills up to 8. After becoming part of Seagram Distillers in 1977, Pernod Ricard acquired a malt that is highly respected in the industry.
